The Concept of Sustainability in Mandom Group
Mandom Group's business activities are premised on the basis of sound and sustainable "environment (E)" and "society (S)." However, we are confronted with various issues that have begun surfacing, such as climate change, declining biodiversity, marine plastic pollution and human rights issues in supply chains, which should be addressed appropriately by maintaining solid "governance (G)" that supports the company. Mandom upholds "social responsibility & sustainability" as its philosophy, which itself is equivalent to sustainability of Mandom Group. To solve social and environmental issues, we will adhere to sustainable management (ESG management + SDGs management), working out sustainability policies and identifying material issues (materiality) in sustainability to provide further Dedication to Service (Oyakudachi) to consumers and create new corporate values through business operation.

Process for identifying and reviewing material issues pertaining to sustainability (materialities)
Mandom formulated a Sustainability Policy in FY 2021 and identified key sustainability issues (materialities). In preparation for the 14th Middle-Range Planning (MP-14: April 2024 - March 2028), we are reviewing these materialities from the perspective of major risks and opportunities associated with changes in the external environment. Medium- to long-term targets for key issues (materiality) in sustainability
The Company formulated its sustainability policies and identified materiality in FY2021 and has been promoting initiatives in this regard. However, no specific materiality-related evaluation indictors and targets had been disclosed previously, which was considered to be an issue. The ESG Executive Committee, which was newly established in FY2022, has scrutinized and consolidated the themes of initiatives, as well as deliberated and formulated medium- and long-term targets for the material issues (materiality) in sustainability. Moving forward, we will continuously review materiality-related matters in consideration of the latest social conditions as well as the opinions and expectations of our stakeholders, while reporting on our progress.
Mandom Group Sustainability Promotion System
This year, 2015, is a watershed year for international initiatives aimed at sustainable development, including
the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for 2030, which were adopted at the UN Sustainable Development Summit
held on September 25, 2015, and are to be applied worldwide.
In April 2015, the Mandom Group established
a new CSR Promotion Division to specialize in strengthening the group's CSR promotion system, one of our key
action points for 2015. In April 2020, some functions of the CSR Promotion Division were incorporated into the
corporate planning function in order to respond to the increasing demands for companies in such areas,
including eco-friendliness, social contribution, and governance functions, and the ESG Planning Division was
newly established to handle the internal promotion of ESG and st rengthen ourcommunication of ESG outside the
Group.
To respond to a drastically changing business environment in a quick and flexible manner and to
practice sustainable management, Corporate Strategy Div., Corporate Administration Div. and ESG Promotion Div.
will be integrated into a newly established Corporate Planning Div.
In September, together as a whole the
Mandom Group declared support for the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact by joining the compact. This
endeavor offers a new opportunity for each and every one of our employees to strengthen our relationships with
a broad range of stakeholders and allows them to share in the values of the international community toward
sustainable social development.
Strengthening Mandom's Sustainability Promotion System
We have established a Sustainability Promotion Committee, headed by the President Executive Officer with the aim of strengthening the sustainability promotion system. While developing our approach for promoting the sustainability of the Mandom Group and holding discussions with relevant departments at committee meetings and other meetings, we are strengthening our efforts to contribute to the sustainable development of society.
The Relation between ESG Efforts and Stakeholders
Mandom has been conducting dialogues with a wide range of diverse stakeholders since fiscal 2006 in order to
take their requests, hear their expectations, and reflect those in our business activities.
Stakeholders are diverse in terms of their expectations and demands on corporations, and their
prioritization of issues pertaining to sustainability. These differences depend on their standpoint,
principles, lifestyle, way of thinking, and other factors.
Based on one of the MANDOM PRINCIPLES of
"Consumerled Lifestyle Value Creation," we will continue to improve on the themes and details of initiatives
going forward while taking advantage of various opportunities enabling exchange of views and dialogue with a
wide range of people such as experts, research institutions, and groups.
